The Venue: Eagles Nest at Kangaroo Point
Perched atop the cliffs of Kangaroo Point, the Eagles Nest is a venue that boasts breathtaking views of the Brisbane skyline and the winding Brisbane River. As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the panoramic vistas that provided the perfect backdrop for an event that’s all about celebrating women in business. The elegant setting, combined with the vibrant energy of the attendees, set the tone for a day that was equal parts inspiring and glamorous.
Why I Decided to Attend
As someone who’s always looking to connect with like-minded women and gain fresh insights into the world of entrepreneurship, the Boss Babes and Bubbly event was a no-brainer for me. I had heard nothing but rave reviews about previous events, and when I saw that this one was being held at the stunning Eagles Nest, I knew I had to be there. Plus, the promise of bubbly and engaging conversations didn’t hurt either!
One of the best parts of the day was attending the event with Stefanie Chisholm, the Client Success Manager at Davichi Computer Services, a longtime client of mine. Having Stefanie by my side made the experience even more special. We’ve worked together for years, and it was wonderful to step out of our usual work routine and share this inspiring day together. Stefanie’s positive energy and shared enthusiasm for networking made the event even more enjoyable. It also reinforced the importance of fostering strong relationships with clients beyond just business transactions.
“Stepping out of the grind to connect with like-minded women reminded me that success isn’t just about the hustle—it’s about the relationships we build along the way. Special thanks to Avalee & Co. for coordinating such a flawless and inspiring event.” — Charmaine Ward
First Impressions Upon Arrival
Walking into the Eagles Nest, I was immediately greeted by the friendly event staff and the buzz of excited conversations. The venue was beautifully decorated with chic floral arrangements, soft lighting, and, of course, plenty of bubbly on ice. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, making it easy to feel both relaxed and energized. I quickly realized that this event was not just about networking—it was about creating connections that are both meaningful and memorable.
Networking at the Boss Babes and Bubbly Event
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to meet so many incredible women from various industries. I had the pleasure of chatting with entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals who were all eager to share their stories and learn about mine. The conversations flowed as freely as the champagne, and I left with a handful of new contacts who I’m excited to collaborate with in the future.
I found that the key to successful networking at this event was to approach each conversation with genuine curiosity. Rather than focusing solely on exchanging business cards, I aimed to truly connect with the other attendees, discussing our challenges, successes, and future goals. This approach not only made the networking feel more authentic but also more impactful.
The Inspirational Speakers
One of the most memorable parts of the Boss Babes and Bubbly event was the lineup of guest speakers—each of whom brought something unique and empowering to the table. Here’s a closer look at these amazing women:

Jess has also developed three transformative programs that focus on business growth. Her talk was all about prioritizing freedom while pursuing entrepreneurial success, and she was determined to inspire every woman in the room to strive for a life that aligns with their values.
Chelsey Jean: Forbes businesswoman and trailblazer, Chelsey Jean, captivated the audience with her story of dedication and innovation. Chelsey has made significant strides in improving lymphatic health, creating an award-winning business that offers cutting-edge lymphatic health clinics across Brisbane. Her journey of turning a passion into a thriving enterprise was truly inspiring, and she encouraged us all to pursue our goals with unwavering commitment.
Kirsty Foster: The vibrant force behind Social Mums Club, Kirsty Foster, shared how she built a community that helps mums connect both online and in person. Kirsty’s platform allows women to find their local tribe for free, making it easier for mums to form meaningful relationships. Each speaker shared their unique experiences and insights, leaving us all feeling motivated and ready to take on new challenges. Their stories were a powerful reminder that success comes in many forms and that supporting one another is key to thriving in business.
Struggles with My Business After COVID
While attending the Boss Babes and Bubbly event was an exciting experience, it was also deeply personal for me. The past few years have been challenging, to say the least. As a small business owner, the impact of COVID-19 was profound. Like many, I struggled to keep my business afloat during the pandemic, and just when I thought I was getting back on track, I fell ill and found myself unable to be as active as I wanted to be. The isolation and stress took a toll, not just on my business but on my mental and physical well-being as well.
For months, I was caught in a cycle of overworking, trying to make up for lost time, and feeling disconnected from the world outside my business. It wasn’t sustainable, and I knew I needed to make a change. Attending the Boss Babes and Bubbly event was a crucial first step in that direction. It represented more than just a networking opportunity; it was a deliberate choice to prioritize building connections, stepping out of the grind, and rediscovering the joy in what I do.
This event is the first of many I plan to attend as I shift my focus from merely working hard to working smart, and as I invest in relationships that nourish both my business and my soul. Surrounding myself with supportive, like-minded women who understand the ups and downs of entrepreneurship reminded me that I’m not alone in this journey—and that success isn’t just about the bottom line, but also about the connections we make along the way.
The Bubbly and the Vibe
No event called “Boss Babes and Bubbly” would be complete without some sparkling drinks, and the Eagles Nest delivered on that front. Throughout the day, we were treated to a selection of champagnes and delicious hors d’oeuvres. The bubbles added a celebratory feel to the event, reminding us that it’s important to take a moment to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
The vibe was one of mutual support and celebration. There was no sense of competition—just a group of women who genuinely wanted to see each other succeed. This supportive atmosphere was one of the things I appreciated most about the event.
